The bridge
I've been doing the Wii Fit plus for some time now. I love the yoga! It's really helped my flexability. When I started, and I was told to bend over and touch my toes...well, lets just say if my toes started below my knee's I did a pretty good job! Now, however, I can touch my actual toes! After doing so, and showing all family members how I can, I somehow threw out my hip! When did I get so old? "Threw out my hip"?? That's something an old person says! My step daughter decided to "help" by showing me some stretching exercises she did in gymnastics. I was able to keep up pretty well, until she did the bridge. You know, when you lay on your back and raise yourself up on your hands and feet creating a bridge. I can't do that anymore! When she did it, I was like...oh I can do that! NO...I can't! I couldn't raise my head off the ground. It was like the bridge collapsed at one end! She kept saying...you can do it, just push on your arms...get your head off the ground!! It wouldn't budge! I went to bed early that night and rubbed Bengay on my hurting hip. Yes...I said it...Bengay! Another old person thing. Remember going into Grandma's room and being overtaken by the smell of Bengay?? Well, that was my room that night! I laid in bed and tried to figure out the exact moment I got old. I just couldn't put my finger on it. Its like it crept up like a lion approaching its prey. I'm the prey....and its getting closer and closer. The only thing I could figure out is that its not going to go away. That lion is going to get closer and closer no matter how hard I try to hide. So...do I just lay still and let him pounce? Or do I continue to hide? The young girl in me screams...hide..hide! The old woman in me says...I'm too tired...let him pounce! I hate that old woman! She's no fun! She gives in too easily! She has no spunk! So...I'm NOT going to listen to her. I'm going to let the young girl run the show for as long as she's able. Hopefully, before its over, she will do that bridge and not throw out her hip in the process. Go, young girl, go!!
